Ratan Naval Tata
(1937-2024)
Ratan Naval Tata was born on 28 December 1937 in Mumbai and died on 9 October 2024 in Breach Candy Hospital Trust In Mumbai. Ratan Naval Tata was a successful Industrialist and Philanthropist. Ratan Naval Tata was former chairman of Tata Group pf Industries, TCS(Tata Consultancy Service), Tata Sons, Tata Motors, Tata steel and Tata Chemicals from 1991 until he stepped down in 2012. Also Chaired Tata Power, Tata Global Beverages, Taj Group and Tata teleservice. He used to handle many industries. Ratan Naval Tata has achieved such a respect by his immense and continuous hard work.

Ratan Naval Tata in his younger life
Education:-
Ratan Naval Tata completed his schooling was from “Campion School of Mumbai“ till 8th grade. subsequently continuing his secondary study of at the “Cathedral and john Connon School” of Mumbai. Then he was completed senior secondary education at “Bishop Cotton School” in Shimla and the Riverdale Country School in New York City, from which he graduated in 1955. Ratan Naval Tata was also brilliant in academics. After High School, He completing his Graduation in Bachelor’s degree in Architecture From “Cornell University“ of US in 1959. After Graduation he completed his Masters in Advanced Management Program From “Harvard Business School” In 1975.
Career’s beginning:-
Ratan Naval Tata‘s Career began as in professional journey when he got a job at a architectural firm in Los Angeles. Later he come back to Mumbai for take care of his grandmother. He joined Tata Sons in 1962, as an assistant and trained at the Jamshedpur plant of tata engineering and locomotive company(now tata motors) where he worked on the floor of Tata Steel. His hands on experience provided him with invaluable insight into the company’s operations. In 1963 Moved to Tata iron and Steel Company(now tata steel) for training program.
In 1965 he appointed technical officer in Tisco’s engineering division. In 1969 he works as the Tata group’s resident representative in Australia. In 1970 he returns to India, joins Tata Consultancy Service, then a software fielding, for a short stint. In 1971 is named director in charge of National Radio and Electronics(NELCO) an ailing electronics enterprise. in 1974 he joins the board of Tata Sons as a director. In 1975 He completes the Advanced management Program. In 1981 is appointed Chairman of Tata Industries its a beginning for him to transferring as a high school business.
1986 to 1989 Serves as Chairman of Air India, the national carrier. On March 25, 1991 Takes over from JRD(Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy)(JRD tata was a Ratan tata’s uncle and pervious chairman of tata group of industries) Tata as Chairman of Tata Sons and Chairman of the Tata trusts. 2000 onwards The growth and globalization drive of the tata group gathers pace under his stewardship and the new millennium sees a string of high profile tata acquisitions, among them Tetley, Corus, Jaguar Land Rover, Brunner Mond, General Chemical Industries Products and Daewoo.
In 2008 Tata launches the Tata Nano, its a small car project he guided and commanded with zeal and determination. Also Awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest civilian honor, by the government of India. After in December 2012 steps down as Chairman of tata sons after 50 years with tata group.

Contribution in Social Work:-
Ratan Naval Tata was a supporter of education, medicine and rural development, social welfare and considered a leading philanthropist in India. Ratan Naval tata was donated over $1.2 billion(approximately rs9000 crores).
Educational Institutions:-
- Harvard Business School:- Donated $50 million, which facilitated the construction of Tata Hall.
- Cornell University:- Donated $28 million to establish a scholarship fund for Indian students.
- Carnegie Mellon University:- Donated $35 million to support educational programs.
Healthcare:-
The Tata Trusts have funded numerous healthcare projects, including hospitals and research initiatives aimed at improving public health across India.
Rural Development:-
Focusing on improving livelihoods and infrastructure in underserved areas. its a purpose of tata for donated in rural development.

Legacy of Tata
Tata group founded by Ratan tata’s grandfather Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. He started tata industries in trading company in 1868. Also a founder of Tata group, Taj Hotels, Indian Hotels company Limited and Jamshedpur(Jamshedpur was Founded in 1912 by Jamshedji Tata, the Industries who established the Tata Group and Asia’s first steel plant. Jamshedpur is known as the steel city, Tatanagar, or Tata. It is home to the tata steel and Tata Motors factories.) Which is India’s Biggest conglomerate company. He Married to Hirabai Daboo.
Dorabji Tata He was a Elder son of Jamshedji Tata and second Chairman of Tata group. Also a founder of Tata power company limited, New India Assurance and Tata Oil Mills company. He was married to Meherbai Tata in 1897.
Ratanji Tata who was the younger son of Jamshedji Tata and Younger brother of Dorabji Tata. He was the pioneer of poverty studies. he was married to Navajbai Tata. His wife adopted a child named Naval Tata, who was the grandchild of hirabai daboo and jamsedhji tata, and raised him as her own son.
Naval Tata who was a adopted child of Navajbai Tata. His biological father was Hormusji Tata. His maternal grandmother was the sister of hirabai tata. Director in many tata companies. He has been married twice. He was first married to Sooni Tata and gave birth to two sons, Ratan Naval Tata and Jimmy Tata. Then he got married to Simone Tata and gave birth to Noel Tata. Thus they have three sons from two marriage.
Ratan Naval Tata was unmarried. Once he said in 2011 “I came close to getting married four times and each time i backed off in fear or for one reason or another”. He Once loved a girl in Los Angeles while working there and had to return to india as his grandmother was ill. The girl’s Parents didn’t allow her to go india. Tata stood by his commitment and its a reason that he was unmarried.
Noel Tata married to Aloo Mistry and have three kids Neville Tata, Maya Tata and Leah Tata.
